Dr. Tidu Maini
Executive Chairman - Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) and Science & Technology Advisor. Dr Maini heads QSTP's strategy and governance and leads the development of its international research collaborations. He is also the Advisor on Science & Technology to the Chairperson of Qatar Foundation. Under his leadership, QSTP has grown to include investment of over $2 billion and secured partnerships with 46 leading global companies. Dr Maini has over 30 years of experience managing technology companies in the defense, electronics, energy and ICT sectors in Europe, US, Asia and the Middle East. He has a BSc in engineering, a PhD in rock mechanics from Imperial College London and is a Postdoctoral Fellow of the University of California Berkeley.
Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi
Supachai Panitchpakdi is the Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Prior to this, he was the Director-General of the World Trade Organization from September 1, 2002 to September 1, 2005. He published numerous books, including Educational Growth in Developing Countries (1974), Globalization and Trade in the New Millennium (2001) and China and the WTO: Changing China, Changing World Trade (2002, co-authored with Mark Clifford).
Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh
Talal Abu-Ghazaleh is the chairman and founder of the international Jordan- based organization, the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), an international professional group offering a wide range of services. TAG- Org is also one of the leading firms of Certified Public Accountants and Auditors in the Arab Region. Dubbed as the godfather of Arab accounting, Abu- Ghazaleh has also been credited for promoting the significance of Intellectual Property in the Arab world.
Mr. Ebrahim Al Haddad
Mr. Al Haddad comes with more than 25 years of experience in the telecom field. He has worked for Bahrain Telecom Company (Batelco), played a leading role in the creation and subsequent management of the Regulatory Affairs unit, he has worked for ITU as well as a telecom consultancy firm. Since October 2011, Mr Al Haddad rejoined the ITU as the regional director of the Arab office in October 2011. Ebrahim holds a Master's degree in Information Analysis and Management from Bond University in Australia.
Dr. Hessa Al Jaber
Ms Hessa Al Jaber is the Secretary General of The Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology ictQATAR, the organization formed by Emiri decree to fulfill the key objectives of the nation's ICT strategy. ictQATAR serves as regulator and champion of the ICT sector, connecting people to the technologies that enrich their lives and drive economic development. Dr. Hessa oversees the development and implementation of the nation's ICT vision, strategy, and master plan.
Mr. Khalid Al-Mohannadi
Mr. Khalid inherited Qatar's old culture and values and he lives the modernization of the present world. Khalid is an engineer by profession and entrepreneur by passion, as a result of that he co-founded "Sago (Social-Edutainment Co.)" to create a unique Arabic social gaming environment, Storytelling apps, Interactive toys & Animations that enriches our future generation's culture and values in alignment of Qatar's 2030 vision.
Dr. Hermes Chan
Hermes Chan, Co-Founder and CEO, invented MedMira's patented rapid flow-through technology, the platform for all of the Company's rapid diagnostics. These diagnostics are key tools in helping healthcare providers, public health agencies, and individuals prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases such as HIV and Hepatitis. Hermes has been recognized in international scientific and business communities with The Economist Innovation Award in Bioscience (2007) and as a Tech Museum of Innovation Tech Awards Laureate (2008).
Dr. Soumitra Dutta
Soumitra Dutta is the Roland Berger Chaired Professor of Business and Technology at INSEAD and the founding director of INSEAD eLab, a center of excellence in the digital economy. From 1 July 2012, he will join the Samuel Curtis Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, New York as its 11th Dean. Professor Dutta's current research is on technology strategy and innovation at both corporate and national policy levels. He has won several awards for research and pedagogy and is actively involved in policy development at national and European levels.
H.E. Ms. Tarja Halonen
H.E. Ms. Tarja Kaarina Halonen is the former President of the Republic of Finland -- one of the world's leading innovation nations -- serving from 2000 to 2012 when she left office due to term limit. The first female to hold the office, Halonen had previously been a member of the parliament. She also had a long and extensive career in trade unions and non-governmental organizations. Halonen is a member of the Council of Women World Leaders. In 2009, Forbes named her among the 100 Most Powerful Women in the world.
Mr. Erik Hersman
Raised in Kenya and Sudan, Erik Hersman is a technologist and blogger who lives in Nairobi. He is a co-founder of Ushahidi, a free and open source platform for crowdsourcing information and visualizing data. He is the founder of AfriGadget, a multi-author site that showcases stories of African inventions and ingenuity, and an African technology blogger at WhiteAfrican.com. He currently manages Ushahidi's operations and strategy, and is in charge of the iHub, Nairobi's Innovation Hub for the technology community, bringing together entrepreneurs, hackers, designers and the investment community. Erik is a TED Senior Fellow, a PopTech Fellow and speaker and an organizer for Maker Faire Africa.
Mr. Mongi Marzoug
Mongi Marzoug is the Minister of Information and Communication Technologies of Tunisia. Previous to this appointment he worked for Orange France where he held the positions of head of mobile network technology and network modeling. Mr. Marzoug holds a PhD in Physics.
Dr. David C. Mowery
David C. Mowery is the William A. & Betty H. Hasler Professor of New Enterprise Development at the Walter A. Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley. He earned a BA, an MA, and a Ph.D. in economics, each from Stanford University. He began his teaching career as an assistant professor in the Social and Decision Sciences Department, Carnegie-Mellon University in 1982, being promoted to associate professor prior to moving to UC Berkeley in 1988. He has also served as Assistant to the Counselor, Office of the United States Trade Representative and a Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations.
Mr. Fadi Nasser Chief Alliances Officer of MEEZA
Mr. Fadi Nasser is the Chief Alliances Officer of MEEZA. He is responsible for MEEZA's ecosystem development, partnerships and joint venture alliances. He started his career working for Nortel Networks and Alcatel in North America. Fadi has a long track record in telecom, networking, wireless and virtualization companies across the Silicon Valley. A founding member in a number of successful hi-tech start-ups, he is passionate about technology and risk management, delivering quality and value to the end user. Prior to joining MEEZA, Fadi was responsible for the product line management of the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) platform at VMWare. His experience spans hands-on engineering through strategic advising and executive product marketing positions. Fadi has a Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering and Masters in Business and Engineering management.
Mr. José Urquizo Maggia
Mr. José Urquizo is the Minister of Production of Peru. Previous to his appointment he served as a member of the Peruvian Congress for five years and prior to it as the Vice-President of his home region, Ayacucho. Mr. Urquizo holds a Masters degree in Education, has been the Director of Instituto Tecnológico Superior Monseñor Víctor Álvarez Huapaya and has been a lecturer at the Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal since 1991.
H.E. Dr. Tissa Vitarana
Tissa Vitarana is the Senior Minister of Scientific Affairs in Sri Lanka since 2011. He holds a PhD in Virology from University of London and worked as a researcher at the Medical Research Institute, Colombo where he was the director from 1983 to 1994. He also was a Scientific Advisor to the Minister of Science and Technology from 1994 until 2009 and Minister of Technology and Research in 2010.
